12 In 12 Challange
In yesterdays post I described the basic concept of the 12 in 12 Challenge. Today I will provide the details. The challenge is really very simple – the goal is to complete 12 woodworking projects in 12 months. That’s it! There are a few simple guidelines that I will use. The projects must all be completed in one months time. This will be to keep them all simple enough that I won’t get in a paralysis by analysis cycle. And, if possible, I should use as much as I already own as possible. I might need to buy supplies, but hopefully I can use the tools I already own. Finally, to be held accountable, I will tell as many people as possible and do regular updates through this blog and Twitter.
For those of you who like outlines here you go:
Goal
- Do 12 woodworking projects in 12 months.
- Complete one project per month. No matter what is going on.
- Tell as many people as possible to hold me accountable.
- Chronicle the whole thing on a blog to keep people informed and to educate them on the projects.
- The idea is to just get into the shop and do something.
- In addition, the secondary goal would be to learn new techniques.
Here is the process – Each month I will pick and announce a new project. During the first week of the month I will plan the project. The second week I will acquire the materials and the remaining weeks I will build. I plan on providing all the details as I go on this blog including plans, Sketch Up Models, photos and video of the progress, and all the trials and tribulations that go with the project.
I hope that you will follow along and provide comments and encouragement as I go along. I will use Twitter to announce updates to the blog and provide short commentary when a full blog post is not required.
