July’s 12 in 12 Challenge Project

Today I am announcing the first 12 in 12 Challenge.  This challenge will be for the month of July.  I plan on doing a Sam Maloof Style Side Table.   I first saw this table at the Marc Adams School of Woodworking.  It was one of the Projects Marc has on display at the school.  At the  time I just thought is was a nice looking and challenging piece.  In recent years I have really taken to Maloof’s style and with my recent run in with him and with his passing last month, I feel it is only appropriate that I start my Challenge series with one of his pieces.

Luckily for me, Popular Woodworking has just republished an artical that they did years ago on this piece.  They have updated the artical with dimensions and drawings.  You can see the full artical here.  I will spend the first week planning and update this blog as I go.  I think I have everything I need for the project, including wood, so it should not be long until I start cutting some wood.  I hope to do pictures and video as I go along, but the main purpose is to do woodworking and not a blog, so we will see what I can do as I go along.
