I envy you - I was on the waitlist for that class...
I did take the turning class with Graeme Priddle in June along with the weekend class (immediatly prior) that was on Sketch-up with Bob Lang.

I agree with your assessment that Marc's school is a sort of woodworking Mecca - I look forward to my spa week all year.... Then the week back at work afterwards to relax and catch up on rest

I received the package from Sam almost a year to the day he died. I kept meaning to display the arm he made somewhere, but as usual it got stuck away in a box. When I heard he had passed I pulled it out and it is sitting on my desk. I really hope that one day I can do the same for another woodworker and keep them motivated when the going gets tough.

Yes, I have to say I have the greatest wife on the planet. She always knows just the right thing to do in every situation. Oh, and she supports my really expensive hobbies.

This is such a touching and inspiring story! I *gasped* out loud when the rocker hit the floor, and I think I would've been right there with you, walking out of the shop and never looking back. What a great guy Sam was. (I have to say it: your wife is pretty smart, too!)

I first read your story on LumberJocks and knew this to be as I felt Sam was. I had just visited his home and sat in a rocking chair he had made when I had read your story. I went into the living room and took the piece of black walnut that he had signed for me and probibly felt in some small way what you had felt with Sam's gift.
